In a vintage impacted by frost, the clone mixture of the 2014 Nebbiolo is concentrated in the upper portion of our estate vineyard.Despite low yields, the remaining fruit was of excellent quality and underwent a lengthy post-ferment maceration of fifty days and two years in large format oak for ageing.
Garnet in colour with an orange tinge, a distinctive nose of plum, current, marzipan and herbal tones plus a hint of florals jump vibrantly from the glass. Sweet and savoury flavours play on the palate –red cherries and their sour counterpart, with redcurrants accompanied by herbal notes of dried rosemary and nutmeg. Soft yet firm tannins follow with a length finish. Nebbiolo cries out for food – and is suited to winter dishes including osso buco. An age-worthy wine, the Nebbiolo can be cellared for ten years or more, and benefits from decanting prior to serving.
