The MC stands for (Multi Clone) as when planting the vineyard 20 years ago we put in four different clones of Shiraz with the idea in mind to increase the complexity of the wine as each clone, even though all Shiraz, do give differing aromatics and palate flavours.
The dark brick recolour is as expected from a Heathcote Shiraz and the aroma displays typical Heathcote characteristics of wild berry, mulberry currents and a touch earthy with subtle oak in the background.
This vintage MC Shiraz displays a more mature smooth palate for its age. The palate is rich yet soft with ripe chetry and dark berry fruit. This wine spent 3 years in both French and American oak, with only a small amount of new oak so it doesn’t dominate the palate but instead adds complexity. A nice finish with soft tannins, leaving a lingering memory on the palate.
Oak barrels being wood are slightly porous which allows the barrel to breath. Normally air is the enemy of wine however this small amount through barrel ageing matures the wine, it matures quicker than when the wine is bottled as especially under screw cap the wine stays more youthful longer. Tests have shown that the same wine under screw cap will remain more youthful, maturing slower than when under cork, which like barrels breaths.

Preservative 220 added (sulphar dioxide).
Suggested cellaring time: try now and try another one in another 6 years (2027).
