Typical of its variety, this pale straw Viognier displays viscosity in the glass. There however the similarity with its riper Australian counterparts ends, as the Viognier displays crisp stonefruit characters on the nose alongside a hint of sweet vanilla pod.
This wine is in no danger of veering into flabby viognier territory, as on the palate it is more reminiscent of a Chardonnay – with flavours of white peach and nectarine accompanied by floral notes of peach blossom, plus a hint of ginger and nutmeg. Citrus acidity is also present - the result of an earlier than usual harvest in the warm vintage of 2016. A delicate palate concludes with a medium-long finish. A refreshing wine now, this wine can also be cellared for up to ten years.
