Wild Duck Creek Estate 2015 Alans Cabernet

Vintages: Every year 1991 – 2017, 2019

A wine of unique character. Supremely complex with huge cellaring potential.

A blend of four varieties, and sometimes five if the Petit Verdot can reach full ripeness. The vineyard is naturally low yielding at less than one kilogram per vine. This allows the berries to develop naturally thick skins, giving an intense texture coupled with aromatic complexity. Gently hand plunged and basket pressed, then matured in 100% new French oak hogsheads for up to 20 months. This wine shows natural vintage variation but has a unique character that only this vineyard can give. With careful cellaring, this wine is capable of living for 20 years or longer.

Tasting Notes

(75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec) – Deep crimson colour with a rose hue. This is our oldest vineyard, first planted in 1974. The nose is a complex medley of blueberries and dried herbs which constantly evolve in the glass. The palate is creamy, textural, and jam packed with blackberry, spice and crushed cloves. The finish is long with hints of bay leaf and thyme. This year’s Alan’s Cabernet is round and a great refection of the vintage. Vibrant fruit flavour with a refined mouth feel. An extraordinary vintage for this wine, you will be blown away. Matured in 100% new French oak for 20 months. Cellaring potential 12yrs – 15yrs. 14.5% Alc. (200 cases only).
